The USDA National Detector Dog Training Center campus is located at 360 Walt Sanders Memorial Drive in Newnan, GA and is the premiere Dog Training Facility for the USDA. The campus consists of 7 buildings where the Detector Dogs (mainly Beagles) are housed and trained to smell contraband produce/food items to help protect U.S. Agriculture from invasive plants, vermin, and insects. In addition to the training areas, the campus also includes a Quarantine Building, a Veterinary Building, a Kennel, an Agility Yard, and multiple covered Break Yards. The National Detector Dog Training Center achieved a LEED Gold Certification by implementing a comprehensive green strategy including initiatives in Site Development, Water Savings, Energy Efficiency, Materials Selection/Recycling, and Indoor Environmental Quality.
